How do I change my start date?

You can change you start date via your addiction settings. You can get here in a couple of ways:

  • Scroll to the bottom of the main counter screen until you get to the addiction options section.
  • Swipe right on your counter screen all the way to the right.
  • Go to Settings via the person icon in the top-right corner. Then tap on addictions.

Once there, you should be able to tap on your addiction's settings. From the settings screen you can change your start date, start time, savings, etc.

Along with the addiction settings icon, you should also notice an option for Reset which will reset your start date (and time) to now.

Why does my sober start date keep resetting?

When you are reviewing your day, any time you select "No" when it asks if you stuck to your pledge - the app will reset your start date for that addiction.

How do I add more than one tracker?

From the main tracker screen, tap the menu icon in the top-left corner. Here you can add, edit, or remove your trackers.

My addiction is not in your list! How do I add it?

You can also add your own custom addiction. When you are adding or editing your addiction, you should see two options in the top-right corner for "List" and "Custom". Tapping on "Custom" will allow you to type in the name of whatever you want.

However, one thing to note is that by making your addiction custom, you will be grouped in the Custom addiction community.

How do I delete a tracker?

  • Go to your settings via the person icon in the top-right corner.
  • Tap on your addictions.
  • Tap Edit in the top-right corner.
  • Tap the little, red delete icon to the left of the addiction you want to delete.

How do I change the photo for my reason to stay sober?

  • Scroll to the bottom of the main counter screen until you get to your reason photo.
  • Tap the little, gray ... on the right-side above your photo.
  • This will bring up a window that will let you select how you'd like to replace your photo.


How do I post a story?

You can post a story by visiting a milestone feed inside in the community tab. Here you should see a big blue plus icon in the bottom right corner. Tapping this will bring up the screen to let you post.

A couple things to note:

  • You can only post stories to milestones that you've reached.
  • You can only post stories to addictions that you are tracking.
  • Please make sure to read through the community guidelines before posting. Failing to do this can get your story flagged.

How do I block someone?

If you'd no longer like to see stories or comments from a user, you can block them by doing this:

  • Tap on their profile to go to their profile page.
  • In the top right corner, tap the gray ... (more) icon.
  • This will bring up a menu that will give you the option to block that user.

If you ever decide to unblock someone, you can find a list of blocked users in your account screen under settings.

Someone keeps posting inappropriate content. How can we get them to stop?

While we try to review and moderate content ourselves, we rely on our community to help us.

Besides blocking someone, you can flag stories and comments by tapping on the flag icons you'll see next to stories and comments.

What data do you store on my account?

This depends on if you are a Sober Plus subscriber or not.

If you are a subscriber, we keep a secured backup of your data stored in the cloud so that you can restore in case you ever lose your device.

If you are not a subscriber, we only store your email and profile photo, and your community related data (like stories, comments, etc).

How do I delete my account?

You can reach out to us at and be sure to tell us your account email or username that you'd like to delete.

You can still use the app anonymously without an account if you'd like.


I'm not getting any notification alerts! What do I do?

If you have notifications turned on and you're still not receiving them, you need to make sure you have them enabled at the system level. You can do this by going to the Settings app on your device.

You should also ensure that you don't have Do Not Disturb turned on at the time you plan to recieve your notifications.

For iOS, scroll down until you see I Am Sober and inside of there ensure you have Notifications turned on.

For Android, tap into Apps and then scroll down until you see I Am Sober. Inside of there ensure you have Notifications turned on.

How do I get more motivation?

We have several motivation packs to choose from. You can find them by:

  • Going to the Motivation tab.
  • Tapping the name of the current pack's name in the header (with the little arrow next to it).
  • Tapping the Get More Motivation button.

I just purchased my motivation pack and nothing happened.

Thanks for purchasing our packs! Sometimes hiccups can happen in the purchasing process, however there is a way to resolve this.

  • From the Motivation tab, tap Manage in the top bar.
  • Scroll to the bottom and tap "View purchases".
  • Tap on the "Restore purchases" button.

How do I use the motivation pack I just purchased?

Thanks for purchasing our packs! Each pack is designed to give you a new message every day, for the next 30 days. You'll only have one message for the first day, but every day after that you'll get another new message. Depending on the pack you bought, the messages could be exercises, affirmations, aphorisms or quotes. You'll be able to see them by:

  • Viewing the motivation after you make your daily pledge
  • From the Motivation tab, tap "View Today's Motivation". Here you can swipe between your motivation packs.
  • From the Motivation tab, tap on your pack to view all the messages you've received so far.
